Suspension Air getting in my brake lines?
Air getting in my brake lines?
Hello everyone,
In September/October I performed a front end brake job on my MCS replacing the rotor and pads, both were oem parts. I plan on replacing the lines this Summer. To make a long story short I think I may have slightly over tightened the right front (passengers side) bleed screw, I'm looking to find a new bleed screw in the hopes that I can put an end to having air seep into my brake lines. It took maybe 5 months for me to notice that air was in the brake lines.
On a side note I also believe that this air seeping into my brake lines also caused my slave cylinder tip to squeak on top of the clutch fork do to air in the system. Those air bubbles would cause the slave cylinder to bounce up and down causing vibration. Now I notice that the slave cylinder isn't making noise anymore, when realized this was when I started to notice air bubbles in my right front caliper. Two birds with one stone!
I don't won't to pay dealer prices and need to purchase a new bleed screw to eliminate the air from getting into my brake lines, is there anything I could put on the bleed screw to make it seal better if indeed the threads are somewhat messed up?
Thank for any assistance,
Systemlord.

If brake fluid is not leaking out, air is not seeping in.
What may have happened is that you didn't bleed it well enough and all the air has moved and collecting together.
Get new bleed screws like these - http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...valve_kit.html
And a bleeder like this - http://motiveproducts.3dcartstores.com/
...and start over.
Follow these steps - http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...ing_Brakes.htm
You will be very pleased with the results.

You should not put anything on the bleed screw. It could get in the brake system and really mess things up. Go buy a new bleed screw/valve. NAPA, Pep Boys, etc... should have one for you. If not the dealer should. They should not be that expensive. $5-10 maybe.
Even in the pictures bleed screws threads are coating with something, I really like those Speed Bleeder Brake Valves! I may not be able to get a look at me calipers until Sun-Tues, I'm out of town until then. Interesting that my slave cylinder is now quiet and now there's air somewhere else. I think your right about the air collecting together and I believe it's stuck somewhere else.
I'm ordering a complete set of those Speed Bleeder Brake Valves, I'll report back once I have a look.
Thanks!
Systemlord
