I may be biased or for that matter copying your set up (sort of). Because I’ve acquired Öhlins coilovers, Eibach camber plates and rear control arms and an H-Sport 25mm hollow rear sway bar. So if you go Eibach we’re more similar, H-Sport on the other hand has great products too, thus my sway bar.

All of my parts are boxed in the garage waiting for me to find the time and place to get them done... What kind of pricing have you gotten at your shops? PM me if you prefer to share it that way. Thanks

Nice. I'm leaning towards the H-Sport arms but I'll have to see what price I end up with. It seems Way has the better price on the H-Sports but motorwerks has best price on the SPC's. I have yet to ask my buddies shop what they can get them for so I'll find that out today probably.

They've wrapped up on two Liberty Walk M3's and now working on a LW Lamborghini so they're slammed with projects so I'm going to have to find some time for them to prep my suspension. I am registered for Streets of Willow at the end of June so I'm set for tweaking the suspension when I head out there. It'll be my first track day this year so the track day itch will finally be addressed :D

Since you already have the coil overs, the install will be pretty easy for the rear sway bar and lower control arms. Just set the lower control arms to the same length as the factory ones (put the bolts through both of them at the same time to confirm length). This will get you close enough on alignment that you won't burn up your tires.

That way when you get to your shop, you can just set ride height, corner weights, and do the alignment. That should save about 2 hours of shop labor, and maybe make it easier for your shop to schedule you in.

We started with the Alta arms which were kind of noisy and not SCCA STX legal so we moved to the H-sports. They seem pretty solid. The only complaint I have is the jam nuts tend to loosen up if you don't tighten them down really well. And I had to buy a big wrench to tighten them with. 1 1/8" if I remember correctly. If you put a dab of threadlocker on it I'm sure they wouldn't go anywhere but we probably change the alignment once a month and I don't really want to be fighting against the threadlocker all the time

Damn. Even with the issue you're having would you still recommend the H-sport control arms?

It's one of the only arms that is STX legal so we're kind of stuck with it. It's really not that bad. Once we got the big wrench so we could tighten them down better they don't really come loose. And if they do come loose you'll figure it out real quick because the car will start crabbing to the left/right as the arm loosens and the alignment changes. Like I said if you are happy with your alignment put a little dab of blue threadlocker on there and they won't be going anywhere.

Holy crap I really disliked that swaybar install. lol. Cutting the stock swaybar took me longer than anticipated, but I'm happy to say it is finally on!

Meth kit is in today and control arms are in tomorrow. Busy week. Hope to get my alignment next wk hopefully.

Shame you have to cover it up with a wheel !!!

But definitely best of show.

But let me guess, just like the TyrolSport FMIC, it commands a premium price.

It pokes from behind there pretty well. It was $555 from Way which is probably the best price out there.

I considered getting the Tyrol FMIC but with the meth kit it almost defeats the purpose of having an uprated unit.

Awesome equipment there, you will have no excuses in having the best handling MINI around. Did you get the arms installed as well?

I think that you are right, the meth kit will be your liquid intercooler. I'm sure that you have read the other threads about the quality of methanol is critical.

Good luck, and enjoy the transformation of your car.

Mike

Thanks.

I was suppose to install the arms today but my little nephew was feeling sick all week and my sister needed a sitter, so I watched him for half the day.

Then, when I went under the MINI to see what I'm getting myself in to I realized how the underbody panels and GP2 diffuser really limit the space needed to work in that area. Needless to say I got a late start in the day to work on the MINI, so I just took the time to take off all the underbody panels and I'll work on running the lines for the meth kit and installing the control arms sometime tomorrow.

I had the HFS-4 before and there's a shop about 20mins away that carries quality methanol so it'll be nice to have this meth kit back on again.

Oh! And I also didn't have much time because I picked these up.... :D

They'll need a bit of TLC, but I've been looking for SE37K's for a long time and I just couldn't pass these up on a local sale.

I am glad that all worked out well for you. It sounds as if you did not take my tip on the abrasive cut off wheel to get out the old bar. It maybe took me three minutes to cut it off.
I noticed that your arms are not flush with the end of the bar. You probably have more clearance because of the Ohlins smaller diameter springs. You may want to check that the end links are in a vertical position.
By the way if you ever get tired of the Ohlins give me a call.

Nice wheels. Now you get to figure out what size tires you want to run.... Does it ever end? Isn't it fun?

Well done.

And if it was only a size question

But no, it's also brand, speed rating, tread pattern, compound, warranty...

Hey Steve I couldn't fix the abrasive cutoff wheel you mentioned so I was stuck with a reciprocating saw. Are the ends suppose to be flush to the end of the bar? I'll give tarett a call to confirm with them. This setup is here to stay. All these parts were bought with the intention of the third time being the charm. But I don't know I'll knock on wood

Thanks Mike. I'll end up with the RS-3's on these Volks. So a quick transfer would be the case. Currently running 225/45/17 but when the thread is done I'll go down to 215 because 225 rubs the front arches. They need to be repainted so that'll be on the agenda. I don't know when it'll end but I'm close to where I was last summe when I was running stg3 AP. =P I just need fmic, and downpipe back to run a stg3 again but those things I'll get to later since this time my intentions are to make the engine bullet proof for the long run. With all the work put into this MINI I doubt I'll ever sell it. So yeah!

True but I've been happy with my RS-3's and even though their treadwear is only 200 I gladly trade that for the amazing grip in return around town.
