BC reliability?

Helix13mini tells me, "If you get a year out of them before they leak and fail, consider yourself lucky."

Is this true? Are they not very reliable?

I'm on megan for 6 years now and no issue. I believe they are the same if not BC are better. I'm i lucky? It all comes down to on how you subject your suspension when driving your car. Some folks go lower their car past the margin and creates undue stress to the shocks and leaks.

If you are just going down an inch why not just get lowering springs instead?

I want the adjustability. If I go just the spring route, I have to buy all new top mounts. BCs come with everything I need. So, it will only cost a little more to get the coilovers.

Well then you pretty much know what you want. I noticed you have posted another thread here about BC coilovers today and asking people for references? You have engaged suspension threads in the past and yet you are still asking asking for links? You already know what you wanted to do so lets us read and or comments on some newby question(s). You have over a thousand posts.....

I don't remember asking what I should get. I'm asking about reliability.

I have had the BC Sports for almost 4 years and no leaks.. I am switching out to a Koni Sport + hsport lowering spring setup to soften the ride as I have a new track toy im developing.

So far the BC Sports held up.. ill find out next weekend how everything looks underneath when I give them their final test and pull them.

Anyone interested in buying them? Ill find out the mileage they have been on and I do have a set of Swift springs on them. Make me an offer and I can package and ship them - US or Canada.

phil.

i have two friends who have had BC coilovers on their cars for over three years. both of these cars were tracked and used hard. one had a single damper fail and got great service from BC. no other issues. YRMV.

So, I've been doing some research and I can't find that one coilover is any less reliable then another. So, I am going with the BC coilovers. If one or two pop, then it won't cost to much to replace the inserts. Now I have to research where to buy. If anyone knows a place in So Cal that has good prices where I can walk in with cash, let me now. I found a really good installer, so that's taken care of.

Oh hells! Most places sell them for about $995. Just pick a place and buy a set.

I got cash, so I would rather walk in somewhere and buy.

I had bc coilovers on my evo and tracked the car, autoxed it, and beat the **** out of it daily basis. I had them for about 3 years and the car made 650 all wheel hp. I also know the company's US distributor and hate him but I will still say they are a great product. They were very accommodative when a friend of mine ordered the first set for a gen 3 focus and worked with him to find the right spring rates and lengths.

Sounds like you need to pick up the phone...and call local places.
i bet most local big box places can order them for you...might be a 2 or 3 day item...maybe +200$ more than ordering online.
