Suspension R58 vs R56 Coilovers (Fitment Issues?)
R58 vs R56 Coilovers (Fitment Issues?)
Just curious, because I haven't seen it spelled out anywhere on the forums that I could find. I want to know if in general, all R56 coilovers would be a direct fit for the R58? From what I have read, they shouldn't be any issue other than maybe a manufacturer changes spring rates, but since the weight is nearly identical, there shouldn't really be a need. On different sites I see different part #'s for R56 vs. R58 but the specs are identical.
Is it safe to say they will fit? If someone was to build a custom set of coilovers following the R56 specs, they would work on the R58?

Unless you are going for "because racecar" and you want that extra hundredths of a second, then you should probably get custom R58 specific coilovers. Other than that, an R56 setup on a R58 should perform just fine.
