Rear sway bar making noise. Does yours?

I got a HSport Comp Rear Sway Bar a couple of weeks ago, right before my boys week trip to the Dragon. The R55 was totally transformed and now wants to corner instead of push the nose straight (understeer, was worse than my past R56).

So, the Comp bar is 25.5mm and hollow. It is supposed to be the same as a 22mm solid I believe. The bar is very very close to the body, when I installed it. I drove the car 3,500 miles in the first 3 weeks of owning it and it wasn't until about 3k miles into it the car started making a metal rubbing sound. I just got a text from the tech and the SM at my dealer and they said my RSB is making contact with the underside of the car ever so slightly. The paint has rubbed off and that is when I believe the noises started.

Everything is tightened down, so it's not like the bar moved closer to the body, but the tech did say it shifted to one side a bit... adding some merit to the one Alta makes that has the collar to keep it from shifting side to side.

I can gently persuade the metal seam of the body that is touching the bar with a screwdriver and mallet or a prybar, but is this common?

Has anyone had noises associated with a fat (25.5mm) RSB, not from bushings, but from the bar touching the car?

Slightly bummed :/ , but loving the corners now. PS: I am in no way dissing HSport, just curious if I was alone, maybe it's R55 specific, or I screwed up a little by not moving the metal in the first place.

Bummer, looks like I am the only one who has had these issues.

turns our my noises were likely coming from the endlinks, the bolts took some tightening down and the noise went away. Maybe my rubbing isn't causing any noises but it still rubs the body.

Bump for pity or like stories? Go check your HSport Comp RSB (25.5mm) and let me know if it rubs please...

I've heard of 1 or 2 cars where the body had some extra flash near the sway bar mount. Bending it out of the way was an easy fix. It's an error in the manufacturing of the car. Just beat it out of the way.

Now for the bar moving, you have something wrong causing that. the bar would naturally self center itself so for it to move off center something is mounted or the flash on the body has caused it. no need for stops on any swaybar, except for marketing.

Thanks Way. I will move the metal when I get it back on a lift...soon.

The passenger's side was just over 1/2" from the coil/spring...I could slide my finger between the two but I was touching both pieces of metal. IIRC the driver's side had a bit more room, maybe 1.5"?

Can I somehow move the bar while the bushing are all tightened down or will it naturally center again?

It really hasn't been any trouble, I guess I didn't have the 16mm nut tight enough or I didn't hold the 5mm Allen tight enough as I tightened the nuts around them.

I can surely say though, if I never utilize the potential of this bar again (or until the next MOTD) it was worth the money. I am glad I didn't go with the 19mm as it seems to close to the factory 17mm. I am on the middle setting and am too lazy to try the other 2. This thing is so fun to try to get it to tripod or rotate around tight turns.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try to make passengers puke. I know I did

I have had a squeak on my H-sport 25mm bar as well, but it hasn't bothered me enough to jack up the car. I will let you know what I find, it was on the car for about 5k miles quietly.

No squeaking on my H-sport comp bar, but I only have a few hundred miles on it.
