WMW sent me this via email.

To really fix mushrooming the right way you need to replace the stock upper strut mounts. But if your looking to do it cheap just use a hammer and 2x4 to beat the towers back down then use a set of either the craven or M7 strut tower top plates. The under tower plates will reduce your front camber and raise your ride height so we never use them.
now im thinking to spend more money and get this.

I run just the M7 Strut tower plates. Either way you shouldn't have to deal with mushrooming again.

I had the M7 Strut tower bar and GOT MUSHROOMED TOWERS!

I now run the Madness underplates for the time being and will be getting camber plates in the spring for track season (which this car has never seen)

Also if you use the undertower plates you may not have enough thread to get the strut brace bolted down.

I guess I should have pointed out that I also run the IE fixed camber plates which reinforce the bottom as well. Either way, no more mushrooms for me.

A comment dealing with just the email reply back

the problem with hammering out the strut tower is that the bolts might be bent with the mushrooming. So just hammering it out and putting a strut bar across might not fit due to the angled bolt. I have this problem now so I have to replace the upper strut mounts. be aware of this.
