Bavarian auto sport springs

Anyone have these or heard about them? I just ordered them because they're only $100. Lowers the car about 1.25 inches.

I'd be interested to see/hear more about these springs as well. I ordered a set after stumbling on this thread (thanks minirooferS haha), 30mm lowering sounds pretty good and bav auto is a legit company.

Just sent them an e-mail to find out what rates these are.

These are $225 list - on clearout for $100. I don't know anything about these springs but Bavauto has been around for quite some time and are a reputable company. Low cost doesn't always equal cheap.

I paid $5700.00 for my R53. Do I now have your blessing?

Agree, selling price doesn't always dictate quality.

Not pushing the "buy" button on any product until I can find out a little more info than whats listed on a vendors website.

Well, IMO any spring that drops more than .75 inches is too much, and 1.25 inches is definitely too much. The car has just over 2 inches of bump travel total, and that's including the bumpstop. That's not good for ride quality or handling.

I agree with this as well. I would prefer a set of linear rate coils that drop the vehicle 3/4 or so, just haven't found any.

Did get this from bavarian:
thank you for your inquiry, we do have these spring sets in stock and ready to ship. I do not have any rates but the front springs are progressive and the rear are linear. -Andy
looks like i'm going to pass on these

I like my Tein H-techs. Very mild drop, mild increase in spring rate. They work well with my koni yellows. I've been meaning to do a write-up, I'll get around to it soon.

I don't know if I have any good ones actually. I think i'll do my write-up this weekend and take a few pics.

And yeah, i wouldn't buy a set of springs without knowing the spring rates.

These springs are spec'd at a 30mm drop which is 1.18". Although less than 1.25", it's still too much. From what I understand, the non-S cars have a slightly taller stance...I'm not sure by how much. If BavAuto's measured drop is based on the non-S car's height, then it's possible these springs are a hair less than a full inch drop on an S. Just a thought.

Thanks

I got them in the mail within 3 nights and installed them yesterday. Heres some pics:

Overall i do think its too low in the rear but im not complaining for 100 bucks. The ride is alot firmer and the handling improved more than i thought.

Thanks for posting pics. That definitely looks like at least a 1.25" drop. It definitely looks cool but I'd be concerned about the limited suspension travel.

Well if your 22 the firm ride doesnt matter much to you

I love how it feels like a "track car" now. But i do admit i wish the drop was a little more evened out.

Couldnt resist...

That is really low in the back....too low. Hope it doesn't settle.

These don't look too bad for $100.00 springs:

lol, I'm too old for the firm ride...that's a fact. The car will feel "track" like at low to moderate turn speed since it'll stay flat with very little suspension travel. However, at higher speed the little amount of suspension travel may be detrimental to handling.

Miniroofers, I think they look great. Just got my set in the mail and will throw them on one of these weekends soon with hope. I wonder if the fronts will settle at all and even out, but they still look alright to me. On a side note, it is beyond me why someone would pay $30000 for a mini in the first place, call me an *** but hey...

Thanks. Post some pics if you can after the install. i'd like to see if theres a difference. Somehow I have a feeling my rears are so low because the rear shocks have sagged a little over time. who knows

I nstalled the same bavarian springs in my S, the rear was too low and tires (215/40/17's)rubbed over bummpy roads. I litterally had them for 1 week and now am installing Megan coilovers I bought from a member on this site. I though about just adding some spacers to the springs but I figured I'd just go for the gusto and get full adjusability with a smoother ride. Anyone want a set of week old springs???? They are still on the stock struts and I may consider selling them as a complete package to bolt right on.

For a good spring with less drop but not the $100 prices, check out the TSW springs at Way Motor Works.

coil overs

just installed the rear megan coil overs last night, huge difference not only in the height but the ride is far better than just lowering springs. I'll do the fronts this weekend durring the hurricane!!!
