The Perfect Height

So I have been interested in lowering my 2004 Mini Cooper S for awhile now and when it comes time I want to know what kind of coil overs I should get height wise. I would really like to get that real custom look with the fender and the tire pretty close to each other but to the point where it wont be a problem. If anyone could please suggest what height would be best for this and provide a picture if you have this on yours id appreciate it alot thank you :]

Perfect height will be based on individual preference. I like stock ride height to maybe 3/4" lower than stock. Some like 2" lower than stock. YMMV.

I agree. I have had customers like the 1.2" ride height and others like the 2.2". Even had a few customers who like it 2.2" for summer and 1.2" for winter. We have the ST Suspensions coilover kits for $976.65 shipped

Perfect height, for me, would be if I could back into the car and the driver's seat would be right at butt level. I guess I'd have to have a truck to do that though!

Would 1.2" cover up the wheel well?

No one can just tell you what the perfect height for you would be. That's like asking what pair of shoes will I like the best? YOUR ride height will have to be decided by YOU, that's the beauty of coilovers they are adjustable, put them on and adjust them to where YOU like the way the car looks and rides there is a compromise between the two.
If your trying to decide on what set you need to decide on YOUR budget and what features you want.

^ Right on. The springs I have lower about 10mm, which is pretty much nothing but it looks great to me. Another 5 to 10mm would be fine, but that's it for me.

But i'm a function first guy, so when i see a slammed car that handles and rides like crap i just laugh (not all low cars are like that, but many of them do).

I'm a function guy too. This car was set up for SCCA STX competition by Turner Motorsport of Amesbury MA (and Grand AM). It works extremely well in competition, but it is an acquired taste on a bumpy road, and does not like speed bumps, sills on highways arising from re-paving, or steep driveways...

Most of the shots in my gallery illustrate the car with the 15" racing rims that it normally wears...

Ok, please excuse me while I may sound a little ignorant..... It's been a while since I've had a lowered car. What do you all do about the camber, are you buying camber correction kits or no? I would really like to lower my car a bit, but I don't want the tire wear.

added camber in front with Webb Camber plates.

reduced camber in the rear with adjustable control arms

result F/R -2.5/-1.0

adjust to taste...

Cheers,

Charlie

I completely agree. The perfect ride height would be in the range of 5/8" to 7/8".
