15"wheels on an R56

Hi

Is anyone running 15" x5.5 4-100 on a 2011 R56S? I am outfitting for next winters ALCAN 5000 MINI run and need six snows. I don't want to run the stock rims because I don't think I can find two more and I also don't want to switch tires each season, just wheels.

Anyone?

I dont think they will clear your brake calibers.

Check out Konig Feathers (15") and the 949racing.com 15" 6UL wheels - according to what I have read here they both should fit.

Correct, 16" wheels are the minimum on the S-model R56's.

15" wheel only just the base (non-S version) Coopers / Clubmans.

I have a 2010 Justa and fitted snows on 15" Honda Civic steel wheels. They clear the calipers by less than 1/8". No chance fitting 15s to an "S".

The R56 Cooper S has 11.6" rotors... while large for OEM brakes, they will indeed fit with some 15" wheels.

The wheels that clear these brakes will usually be geared towards performance driving/racing, as brake clearance can be a very important variable to be considered when designing and manufacturing wheels.

There is a thread somewhere on this forum with a list of 15" wheels that will clear the stock R56 and R53 JCW brakes. Suffice it to say that there are ~20+ different wheels that are known to clear the 11.6" brakes.

A few examples:

*949Racing 6UL -15x8, 15x9 (the 7s and 7.5s have less brake clearance).
*Enkei PF01 - 15x7, 15x8
*Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 and 1.2 - 15x7
*SSR Comp/Type-C - 15x7, 15x7.5
*Volk TE37, CE28 - 15x7, 15x7.5

As you can see.... there is a bit of a trend here. Most wheels on this list are forged or low pressure cast, resulting in the ability to produce a wheel that has less wall thickness on the inner portion of the rim, and thus more brake clearance.

Blah blah blah... The point is, only some 15" wheels will clear the front brakes on an R56.

I am not aware of any 15x5.5" wheels that would work, though. And the OEM base Cooper wheels will definitely not clear.... and neither will any of the standard steel wheels that are stock on so many smaller cars.

Looking to get into a 15x8 setup on my 2006 JCW, mostly used for auto-x and some lapping. This post and thread are very helpful.

Anybody know if Konig Dial-In in 15x8 would fit over R56 front calipers?

Reviving and old thread

Has anyone come across other 15x8 or 15x9 wheel models that clear front R56 / R53 JCW front brake calipers?
