CV Vibration After lowering

Ok, beating the dead horse.

Vibration under torque load- exclude engine speed and vehicle speed this is just under hard load.

So anyone who has lowered a car knows that this can and sometimes will happen.

First it like to state that there have been many revisions of cv's for the r56 if you look on penske parts youll see what i mean. You ask why i say this first and foremost? I say this because this could address the "some get it some dont".

So i would like to ask if anyone has come across spacer(i had an s2k on coilovers with the same problem which was fixed with axle spacers)?

ps: Spacers were bolted inbetween the diff carrier housing and the cv shaft... unfortunately ours conenct in a different manner.

I would like to not have to raise the car much as it looks so good but i am thinking i will have to. This issue is definitely related to 2 things-

1. Bucket wear of the cv joint

2. Cv articulation angle being within spec.

A spacer would adjust the location of contact regarding bucket wear which is what im leaning towards but can not find any providers.

Maybe a spacer on the axle nut allowing maybe 5mm of inward displacement?

Please as a request i would like to say that the install is not the issue, no not tell me i need new springs etc.

Lets make this investigative and productive.

Any folks had good results?

Since i have a powerful mini this is also amplified

I will be raising the car after work today but would like to avoid this if anyone knows any solutions.

You could always build engine mount spaces to raise the engine a bit, thus correcting the angle of the axles. That's what the VW and Audi guys do when they slam their cars.

It'll raise your CoG a tiny bit, but it's whatever.

What about using a spacer behind the axle nut?

These are what style i had on my S2000 but the design doesnt allow for such a piece. http://www.google.com/#q=s2000+axle+...=ivns&tbm=shop

I am having the same issue sort of. It seem feels like the wheels are a little out of balance. I don't notice when going 25-40, but over that I start to feel the shimmy in the front. Usually around highway speeds (in LA, no traffic). I was going to check the balance on the wheels, but it seems that I might be too low.

I am all the way down on H&R's in the front, with a 1/4" left to go in the rear. All the toe/camber was set to factory.

Try raising your ride height about 5-10mm at a time up front only, then adjust your rear once you find the sweet spot. I doubt its your tires as im sure they were ok before you lowered.

Thanks, probably just the ride height. New wheels and tires were put on though, I have yet to take any pics though.

I just went and got my wheels rebalanced. Made a difference. I only did the fronts as those were the ones I was worried about. (that and I was short on time today). Still feels a little shaky, but I think it's coming from the rears. The fronts were off 2oz each. Seems like a lot.

For documentation purposes, did you measure the angle when the vibration was present to when it was removed?

Do you have a ride height measurement currently?
Like from the center of the wheels to the top of the wheel arches?

Yup, i used the kw worksheet they offer on their site.

Was able to even out both static heights within 2-3mm

Care to share the front measurement? Was looking to see what range you received.
Did you install KW's (if so, interested in talking as I'm leaning to purchase V2's for my R55) or use their set-up sheet only?

So I've making the rounds on these suspension-CV joint-vibration threads...I have no problem raising the front a hair, but does anyone have a suggestion for the H&R Touring Cup Kit? It's H&R's springs (1.4" drop)- fixed, all around. Is there a way to shim the upper strut mounts to raise the car a bit?

Thanks!
