please set me straight

ok, so the R56 sport suspension: what exactly is this 500$ option doing to a MINI? I was under the impression that it just included springs and front and rear sway bars, but after reading another thread i saw people talking about the "sport shocks" and am confused. So can someone please set me straight once and for all with what is included? Thanks!

yes, you get different (and crap) shocks. Save your money and get aftermarket shocks like Bilstein B6.

The sport suspension is supposed to have different shocks, springs and sway bars. If you look at realoem.com, they do have different part numbers. But according to some, they are the same stuff with different part numbers. But I think they are different having driven the different setups.

+1 on what etalj said about OEM shocks.

I liked the feel of the sports suspension on the street so I ordered it. But it was only a $250 option in Canada on my JCW. For $500 I would have gone aftermarket or saved my pennies and got the JCW suspension later.

Stock suspension comes standard on the car
Sports suspension is factory installed
Factory JCW cars come with stock suspensions and can be upgraded to sports suspension at the factory
JCW suspension is dealer installed and is slightly lowered. It includes sportier springs, shocks and sway bars.

JCW includes shocks, springs, and both a new front and rear swaybar.

I got the sports option when I got mine only because that was the only way to get the factory LSD. It was a no cost option here in Australia because our roads are so crap the sports is very bumpy, even with the monster truck ride height
