Changing Springs

When changing the “springs only” on the Mini do you NEED to remove the whole strut, or can I move the strut assembly down enough to take the spring off while the strut is still attached to the car?
Thanks!

You will have to remove the entire strut. It's not that bad at all though.

Bring a friend. This is a two man job unless you have a really nice spring compressor.

Fronts can be a little struggle but the rears are easy. Best to compress the front a little with spring compressors.

Thanks all, I do have a spring compressor, and an impact wrench, but I don't want to have any issues. My big fear is the nut that holds the spring to the strut. Is this a pain to remove? I see that people with impact wrenches have it easier.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

OK so Air tools are priceless for this job!
I came home this evening with the mindset to attempt one of the front struts, and It started off with no issues, although a lot of work to do, (a helper really makes things little easier) the hardest part was the spring compression, but over all it isnt that bad. I should have this done by noon tomorrow.
Does anybody know any reputable alignment shops here in Middle TN around Franklin?
Thanks Again
