Worn Brake Pad Warning Light Question.

When you replace brake pads and sensor on an R56, does the service indicator have to be re-set, too? Reason I ask is that I just changed rear pads and sensor and 150mi. down the road that warning light came on. Checked all connections and they're solid. Read somewhere that the car's computer has to be told it's dealing with a new sensor. True?

Considering that it is just a simple circuit break sensor, I wouldnt think the computer would "care" once you put a new sensor on.

Maybe take it to a parts store and see if there is a code??

Yes, you have to perform a reset after you replace the sensor.

Thanks mucho ! Can I do the reset myself or do I need to go to the dealer? No biggy on going to the dealer as we finally got a real good one (Penske) in these parts.

You can do it yourself. Do a search on how to reset the interval for the oil change for an R56. The brake reset is accessed the same way.

The service menu is soooooooooo logical right?! I'd scrap the sensors so you don't ever have to worry about them ever again. Twist the wires together at the and of the sensor and be done with them forever.
