Suspension Coilover Choice, help.
Coilover Choice, help.
Ok, i have a 2007 MCS.
I want to do coil overs on it.
My only prior experience with coil overs where on my Chrysler 300 SRT8 in which I put K&W variant 2's on and loved it, i did not however love the price, so I guess my question is, what options do i have for coilovers for the Mini?
I am not overly concerned with damping and rebound adjustment.
Any input or feedback from other brands and approx cost would be grateful.

I have had BC coilovers on my clubman for over 2 years. I like the amount of adjustment they have. I recently started getting a "boing" noise from the fronts. I contaced BC Racing and they sent me all the parts I needed to fix them at NO COST. Customer service is a very good reason to purchase a product.
We had Variant 2s on the shop R56. The ride was acceptable for bumpy Philly roads, and the performance was excellent. We did end up with a blown shock after about 20,000 miles. If you decide to commit to the high-dollar range, consider the Cross Coilovers.
Does depend on what you want the car to do with the coilovers.
If you want the car to look slammed, almost anything cheap would do. Just know that handling may or may not be better. You should expect to pay about $1000 or so
If you want improved handling but still more for daily use, you are better off with something like the KW v1 or v2. You would pay about $1000 to $2000.
If you are heavy into track, then think about AST 5100 or nitrons. Or the competition KWs. this would be upward of $2500 to $????.

I will check out the BC and Cross.
Main purpose for the coil overs are better handling, i will drop it of course with them but that is not the main intent for the purchase, better handling for daily use nothing on track.

Thank you for all the input, much appreciated.
Do you guys have any preferred vendors that you would recommend?
Looking at all the options i might just stick with the KW's as I did like the way they behaved as well as ride quality.

Why not opt for KW V1 coilovers then? They're a bit more streetable than the V2, and don't have the damping/rebound adjustment. Yup, they're $1400, but you get what you pay for man.
Megan racing coilovers
I too have been looking at Megan raining coilovers. I've seen them for about $850 to $900 (which includes shipping), but haven't read much feedback about them yet. Currently I have ALTA lowering springs with stock struts and shocks on my R53 (2006 MCS) with 65k mileage. Is there a website for more feedback on these Megan coilovers? It makes me wonder why they're so cheap when compared to other manufacturers with less adjustability and variances.
Check our KW's they are NOT the off the shelf KW's, we offer the TSW spec KW's that have custom linear springs installed. These offer a better matched setup for a MINI, and are more predictable and consistant with a good ride.

I occasionally participate in autocross, so my MINI is mainly used for street driving (although I do love to take corners fast). With the lowering springs, I feel like I'm being beat to death on rough roads (specifically overpasses, pot holes, railroad tracks, etc). I like the lowered "look". Is there a balance between being lowered and a less-jarring ride? Are coilovers typically rougher riding than stock struts & shocks. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Too many coilovers that are pretty much junk out there.
