Need new GOOD shocks

Avid autocrosser with a 07 MCS with sport suspension.
Stock shocks seem pretty horrible in maintaining the tire to the ground under acceleration and lateral grip is bad too as the car hops in a constant radious turn. only 20K miles on the car and the stock shocks need to go. Have to stay in stock class with these springs.

Not opposed to spending 500-1000 bucks a corner if they work.
So what out there. Off the shelf Koni sports is the bottom of my list. What else is out there, Haven't seen a Penske or Ohlin or Moton offered for Mini's.

Stupid struts.

I vote Bilsteins as well. They've always been great at keeping the wheels on the ground, while at the same time not turning your part-time autocrosser into a miserable bone-jarring "I can't wait to park this thing" ride...

Are JCW shocks just the same as S shocks. Maybe a bit as in wee bit more agressive in valving.

I disagree on shocks making a car ride stiffer. Good shocks won't do that, I have ridden on Ohlins on the street and they were wonderful.

I had Koni race inserts on my 914 and drove it all over to and from events with spring rate 3X the stock level. Car rode great.

Shocks dampen the spring though hi-speed and low speed valving. Get the valving wrong and it will beat the snot out of you.
