Suspension Quick question about Megan camber plates.
Quick question about Megan camber plates.
I know that in order to be able to reach the four bolts to adjust camber on the Megan coilovers, you have to cut out the strut tower a bit. In an effort to save some resale value/not hack up the 'newest' car I've ever had, can I install the Megans without cutting?
Can the camber be adjusted by unbolting the strut bolts and dropping the whole strut down a bit to reach the camber bolts? Or do the bolt heads not even clear the sheet metal enough to install them? I've looked at the BC write up and there's lots of good info there, but I couldn't tell if this is a possibility. If anyone can weigh in on this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks, and pardon my ignorance on the subject!

Can't say for sure, but I doubt it. You might be able to find a shop who would do trial and error, but I wouldn't think so. The adjustments are too fine to just eyeball it. Doesn't Ireland make fixed camber plates?
They do, but Megans come with the adjustable ones. I'm sure I'll just end up Dremeling out the strut tower, which isn't the end of the world I guess. Although I wonder if they can be used with the stock upper mounts for the time being... Hmm. Well, thanks for the input.
What my installer did ( Grassroots Garage ) is installed them and left those 4 bolts just snug and or snug enough to get to the close by Alignment shop, using a ball type end allen wrench you can reach the bolts to loosen them, get front end set how we wanted, tightened them as good as he could then rolled it off the machine and took them off and tightened them for good..
Down side is you don't want to be having to do that very often so since then I have drimeled away enough material to reach the bolts and taped up the area and painted that top ring black so you don't notice it as much.. Could always buy those little covers that pop in there and drill a hole in it for the adjuster to poke thru..

Yeah, right now I got them all set where (I think) they'll need to be with a ball end wrench. I measured the camber and then loosened the top strut bolts to give me enough room to really tighten. I like you're idea, N2MINI, about the cover. That would look clean. Plus, the longer I have this car, the less I care about cutting things...
