Are you talking the suspension that comes on the works, or the $3000 plus install extra works? I can only speak for what comes on the works. Same garbage shocks. As far as the optional dealer installed? No idea. Dealer has never had one to drive.

Go drive one to form your own opinion. Lowering is about 1/2 inch.

I'm talking about the JCW kit that you buy after the fact. Honestly I don't realy car about brand or anything. My main concern is going a setup that can handle well and not ride too ridiculous (still have to commute on it) . I'm also a bit concerned this vibration thing that people are getting. so right now I'm leaning towards the bilsteins ss10. Is this a good choice? Can someone who has this please let me know how the ride is?

As for test driving a JCW. thats not going to happen as I;m in a wheelchair. I would've gotten a factory JCW if I could.....

I would gladly accept that challenge. I went to do just that before I bought my HD's. Here is what the dealer said. "Order a car from the factory custom with the suspension. If you don't like it, don't accept it." Sorry, that is no way to run a business or sell an option. In their defense, Honda has an optional sport suspension for the Civic. Dealer has never sold one because they never had one to offer to drive. It could make the Civic tolerable again ( they went to mush) but we will never know.

JCW option: $3000 plus about $1000 install.
HD's $600 and an afternoon.
You may figure the risk benefit ratio yourself. It is sad. What if the works option was really the best setup? We will never know. I knew what to expect from KW, Bilstein and Koni.

HD's spec is stock height. I know many have responded that they run them lowered with no problem. I am stock spring. I would be sure they would work with the works option springs as well.

Pss10's give you lowering as well as adjust-ability for both compression and rebound. Previous posters have suggested their max soft is very nice on the street, then just twist the ***** for track use.

As the pss10 uses standard 60mm linear springs, it gives you even more options to play with spring rates. If you are serious about track days, I would not hesitate to go pss10s. I almost did for street but decided I did not want to lower it. I am one cheap SOB, so if I was ready to shell out that kind of bucks, it is clear I had confidence in the pss10's.

so I was to get the pss10, what spring rate should I specify?

What they come with. I believe it is in the range between 4 and 5 k. You don't want the 6 to 9K that is for serious track only use.

Not sure where you got those numbers but as a reference, Morristown Mini in NJ has the parts for $721.50 and installed their price is $1,596.50

From the Mini WEB site. Cost of the option. Springs, shocks and bars. I wonder if they are quoting the same thing, or if that is the price for just the two sway bars. It would be about right, twice what you should pay.

That includes everything, JCW springs, shocks and sway bars (F&R), plus installation.

They were running a special a few months ago for $1469, $1000 for parts and $469 for the install

Hmmm. Now the WEB does list it at $1307. Not at all what the dealer here was saying. When I looked a few months back, it was $3000. Wish I could drive one. I wonder if the shocks are as bad as the MCS or if this is a valid fix? I see the tuning kit is also down to 2100. It also was over 3. Unfortunately, as was just pointed out to me, the "kit" boosts an MCS from 172 to 185Hp, where a "real" works is 205. HC pistons I guess.

I think the dealer has been quoting you some really high prices. As far as I know the MSRP prices for both the JCW suspension and the JCW stage 1 kit has not changed over the last 2+ years.
