Let's assume I do need to go lower, what else would I then need? Rear adjustable lower control arms?

Not sure how far you can go with the stock arms (maybe someone else will chime in). Unless your planning on going super low the rear adjustable lower control arms should do it.

I get the impression from Way, and I hope i'm not misquoting, that lower control arms are needed with any amount of lowering if you wasn't to keep camber proper and tire wear and handling where they ought to be.

Lowering the car will add some negative camber which is good to a certain extent. Most recommend around 1.5 degrees for street use. There is adjust-ability built in to the suspension on our R56's. With a mild drop, usually there is enough to get the car back in spec. Once you go past a certain point you will need the arms to get to spec.

Just as a heads up, my cars suspension is bone stock, sport suspension. Only thing installed right now is rear upper and lower H-sport control arms. Running webspokes, OE tire size (not runflats) and the car is properly aligned.

Rear shocks are pretty worn out but that's about it.

I have the exact vibration everyone complains about, started a couple weeks ago. Putting coilovers in this weekend/next week...we'll see if it gets worse.

Lowered my 2021 228i Gran Coupe

I lowered my 2021 228i Gran Coupe (F44) w H&R springs and have the shake at take off. Car had 7k miles when I put the springs on. I had the same issue with my 2011 Mini Cooper JCW - this car had 100K miles when I lowered it and it was a pretty bad shake. I believe its due to the cv joints being worn in at one position and when lowering your putting it in a new position where the wear is irregular causing the cv shaft to slip off the newer material back onto the warn material causing the vibration. I did replace my CV's on my mini and it solved the issue! I am letting my BMW wear in some and see if it goes away.

Ummmm… First post! Welcome to NAM… But with a Bimmer, not the MINI?

Do you still have the MINI?

Interesting post, though, that this can be an issue with RWD too. I suppose that makes sense. Meld your 2 cars together and you would come up with a Clubman JCW ALL4. Not sure if anyone has lowered one of those, but with having 4 CVs this could be a very uncomfortable/annoying issue should this could occur.

Come to think of it, I had this issue with my F56 JCW when I lowered it, which I had forgotten about as it did go away.
