Suspension Coilovers and highway handling
Coilovers and highway handling
Hi All,
I recently had a chance to drive a friend's R56 that have the KW V1 Coilovers with moderate drop and really liked the handling. After alot of thinking, these are the ones that i'd like to put on my Justa Clubman... At the same time, I'll put in the rear swaybar (probably a HSport 19mm put on the softest setting for starters) and maybe look for a 1" drop.
I know that there's alot of back and forth here about the effect that these changes have on ride quality and my impression is that the KWs might be a good compromise on handling and ride quality.
I'd be interested in hearing the consequences of these changes for highway handling. I've got a long (7k total over one month) roadtrip coming up and during this, I'll have a chance for some great twisties but I'm also going to be sitting in this car for hours on end on dead straightaways. So, what do you think? Are these changes to the suspension a bit weird to think about right before such a long trip? Will it make the driving just that much more demanding?
Thanks for your input and NAM's been a great resource so far!

I decided to pull the trigger and am doing the KW v1's with a 19mm rear sway bar (Hsport) that will be set on the softest of three settings. But... the [censored] Dragon is messing up my schedule since the shop (Way Motors) is was closed last week.
My compulsive checking for others experience was pretty consistently positive on the K1's. The main thing being that with a 1 to perhaps 1.5 inch drop that you still get essentially the same travel as stock so that sounds ideal.
Hopefully i'll get this on either this week or next week and then i'll drive a bit, get an alignment and post a review.
So, work in progress :-)
