Suspension time inserts or new trailing arms
time inserts or new trailing arms
Oh man, I'm so toasted. I was trying to install a new set of coil-overs today. Everything was fine until I accidentally stripped the screw hole threats of the rear trailing arms. The 18mm bolt that connects the rear shock lower mount to the trailing arms is fine. I was wondering if any of guys use time-sert before?
Should I get a new trailing arms or is the time-sert strong enough for the job ?

You might look for the "Heli-coil" brand. They have been around for a long time and are a stainless steel coil that repairs the thread in the aluminum trailing arm. These have been used to repair spark plug threads in aluminum cylinder heads for years which I would think would be a more extreme application. The time-serts may be fine but I would think the heli-coils with the long history might be a safer bet. Good luck, I hope things work out.
THanks man !
I have another question for you. I installed a 19mm Eibach rear sway bar with the Zerk fitting brackets & bushings from WMW. I torque all 3 bolts except the left-side outer-bolt. It keeps turning but won't tighten. Should I worry about it or are the 3 bolts strong enough to hold the sway bar ?
Worst come worst, I'll just install the Eibach bushing w/o the zerk fitting
