Question plz help :( Coilover, Spring, Lowering

Hi im a newbie here! I would like to lower my car a little. Do I have to buy coilover to lower it? or do I just need to buy the spring? I totally have no idea how this work :( can someone please help?

my wheel size is 17' now, will it affect or scratch my wheels if i lower it by 1'?

thanks everyone!!

Nope, springs are all you need. Most springs only lower the car an inch or so. Enough for a good wheel tuck, but not enough to scratch anything up. You might also think about adding some strut tower protectors and possibly fixed camber plates to offset the chance of damaging the strut towers.

Mods, this might want to be moved to the suspension thread.

There are two types! one lower the MINI by 1.2 in front and 1.1 rear. the other one lower the mini by 0.6 front and 0.5 rear. which one do you recommend?

I had the S-Tech's but on a different car and they stated it would drop my Subaru about what it is for the Mini and it ended up being a bit lower. Also the S-tech might be a stiffer ride than the H-Tech either way Tein makes a good product.

There are several springs available that will lower your car. You don't have to get coilovers. The biggest difference is cost, springs will be alot cheaper.
I suggest either Hsport or TSW springs. You'll also want to get rear adjustable control arms if you lower the car, to get the camber correct.
