V-Maxx + S-Lites = No Low???

I just finished installing the front V-Maxx coilovers on my mini and to fit the stock S-Lites back on, I had to raise them nearly all the way up... What gives? Has anyone else had this issue? I'm leery to install the rears now.

If you're running taller than stock tires, that would be the concern.

Have you actually put the car back down on the ground? Did you read my Alliance review of the V-Maxx to get baseline spring collar positioning measurements using stock sized tires?

The car is back on the ground now and the ride is great, however, I want to be lower but the collars are preventing that. Fairly certain they are the stock tire size. Without going outside to verify 205/45/17.

The V-Maxx are designed to operate with a bit more comfort than stock with no more than a 2" lowering. Get the tape measure out a check where you're sitting.

Throw some wheel spacers on there, slam the car and be done with it.

I just wanted to update this for everyone. I have since bought and installed 5mm spacers for the front wheels and as you can see by the pics below, 5mm won't cut it, nor will 8mm by the looks of it. Plan on going at least 10mm if you want to be low.

Hmmm, I ditched my S-Lites for some Drag DR-21. They are 17x7.5 et 45 and clear by a **** hair. You'll clear with 12mm spacers but then I think you'll have some rubbing issues in the back. I rub a bit on big bumps or dips on the highway when going along at a good clip.

Consider this...

If you run a 12mm spacer, you'll have PLENTY of room on the inside but you'll be out 5mm more than I am. I think it will look great with the proper drop, but I don't think it will provide you with optimum slammage because of rubbing.

Aww man those wheels look so nice.. I had some 25mm without lowering my car which looked sick but they rubbed on the back over bumps. So I'm sort of used to it but I want to really slam it dang.. Thank you so 16 it would rub worse I get it cool. Thank you! Ps I eventually plan to get some 18x7.5 will I need diff spacers then?

Dont worry too much about the rubbing, it's just plastic. It wont damage the tire and after a while it'll just wear away and give you more clearance.

I don't understand. How can you clear with a 17x7.5 et45 but not with an s-lite that's 17x7 et43 (with the 5mm spacers)? The 17x7.5 et45 is 8.4mm closer to the suspension that the s-lite with 5mm spacers...

haha, ya know... I never really thought about it. I might have gotten the et wrong on the S-lites, not sure. All I know is, I didn't clear with the S-Lites and a 5mm spacer and I do with these wheels.

I'd be willing to bet its the difference in tire size. It's not the wheels that hit the strut, it's the tire.
