Randy, I'd love to take you up on that, if you are willing to wear earplugs and helmet so you can't compare by ear. Coming to Oregon any time soon?

No Immediate plans to come up that way. I moved to So. Cal from CT. to get AWAY from the rain Helmet and ear plugs would not be an issue but if i had to wear down mittens and sit on a fat pillow it might throw me off.

If you take a look at some of the 60's performance Mustangs and other uni-body cars of the time, you will find factory bracing from the shock towers to the firewall. The idea of a brace tieing the shock or strut towers together for stiffness is not a new idea, its been around for a long time. The manufacturers have been doing it for some time and in the nickel and dime production world, they wouldn't add it (or the cost of it) if it wasn't needed.

this is gettin good

watch Barrett-Jackson auctions when the unibody rwd muscle cars come to the line: most if not all will have some kind of shock-firewall brace flyinlow mentions. Why is the science lost on so many?? Christ my buddy auto-x's an R53 and an Evo 8 and wouldnt do this without mutiple bracings front und rear--all tied to both cars' strut towers.

Unibody torsional stress is a reality. Braces help check this reality. I could feel my brace-less R53 strain when turning agressively into and shooting out of an empty roundabout; with my braced R56--and the same tires, dsc off--no strain detected.

Excellent back and forth on this topic. Very little of this in Gen 2.
Rather than tune out, continue the debate.

One can't reason with someone who is fundamentally irrational. Trying to do so is a waste of time. Others are welcome to make their own choices. I have better things to do.
