Suspension THUNK! when hitting certain bumps...
Coilovers: thunk! = improper preload? HELP!
Installed the Megans several weeks ago...still need to adjust the height of the rears and I'm having issues with bounciness.
Anyhow, when I hit a bump, I occasionally (7 of 10 times) will hear a loud, solid, THUNK from the passenger rear.
Took a look at it yesterday morning and there seems to be a bit of play in the spring...I can wiggle the spring and replicate the sound (albeit a much quieter thunk), so I'm thinking I need to tighten the two interlocking nuts at the bottom. NOTE: I can't wiggle any of the other coilover springs and the noise is isolated to the passenger rear.)
Is there an easy way to do this without having to remove the coilover? Will I need to apply slight compression to the spring as well?
Lastly, I had all the torque specs for the suspension saved as a word document, but the laptop crashed...so I would really appreciate having the torque specs again for:
Sway bar
Control arms
End links
Coilover (top 2 bolts)
Coilover (bottom single bolt)
Subframe
I figured while I'm under there I'd recheck all the torques...
Thanks!
Erika
