Since Pimp is my MINI Brother I'll encourage him to find a used set of old Megan's, install them set with a set of Megan Rear Arms and get the MINI aligned, then set the front camber to -1.5 and the rears to whatever gets the tire flat on the ground.
Then run that setup and make small adjustments to get the look and ride he wants, then add parts or exchange the Megan springs if needed. If he can't find the Megan's used, then get the VMaxx and run them without front plates until he knows for sure he needs them. He will need the rear arms for sure with any lowered setup.
any good front pics of a MINI with -1.5 in the front? i just want to see how noticable it is when you look at it.

and as far as control arms go, do i need upper AND lower?

Just lowers. The upper control arms allow toe adjustments....but you don't need those.

You probably don't NEED the lowers....but they are very nice to have to keep camber within stock range. I ran my car slammed and no adjustable control arms for 3 years without any unacceptable tire wear due to camber. There was some, but it wasn't like I was changing my tires constantly.

Yeah Im really interested to see how low these v-maxx will go, TUV rated for 70mm, so it could maybe go lower, but wont be TUV rated!

Yes you can install the lower control arms at a later point. Note that it seems as if rear camber after lowering varies a lot from person to person. Some ppl report crazy negative camber, some don't. You'll probably want to stay away from control arms with heim joints as they wear faster and aren't especially meant for street cars. Others will have vendor recommends, I'm sure.

Endlinks are the connections between your swaybars and your shocks / coilovers. Aftermarket adjustable endlinks allow you to adjust / eliminate preload (swaybar tension while car is just sitting); preload becomes a larger issue the more you lower. But it's not a dealbreaker and probably not noticeable, especially for a street-only car.

End links attach to the swaybar. The aftermarket ones adjust to allow preload adjustments for corner balancing your car which is something you probably wont be doing.

Some people say they get them cause they're stronger.....not necessary though.

thats if i was going to autoX or track, and take hard corners right?

which i wont be doing, obviously.

so i dont need them?

so the Vmaxx kit, and lower control arms would be all i need from the get-go, MAYBE camber plates?

are they gonna support my 500-600lbs of subs/amps/batts/wire/wood? LOL

Correct. That list looks good.

I'm not sure about the 500-600 lb support. If your rear is sagging as much as some of the pictures you showed where the rear was lowered from the weight......they may bottom out a little bit, but that sorta comes with the territory of having 600 pounds in your trunk

Sorry for the Off topic, but you'd be interested in this: Did you see the yellow MINI Cooper for sale on ebay with the 18" subwoofer and FG wall over the back seats? He's down in florida. Pretty clean install

Ok. So is it my understanding that the new redesigned Megan Coilovers will not lower the car as much as the prior models? I am getting ready to make the move to coilovers and would like to have the look of a lowered car but a good track/street product. The vmaxx only seem to address lowering the car. Adjusting front camber would be important for me. I would love to have the Cross setup, but would rather not drop the 2k+, and being that my car isnt going to be tracked everyday i think that they would be overkill. Are the megans still the way to go?

Hello MSF, the changes to the Megans have been to the fronts only, well the rears now come with top hats and damper adjustment cables, but the current, 3.0, Megan's lower more then the 2.0 but not as much as the 1.0's which were too low. I have many customer running the 3.0's and loving them.

Another way you could go is to just add IE Camber plates to the setup you have now with some better shocks like the Koni FSD's.

I don't know....I just remember you posting a pic pointing out that your rear was lower when you had the box and stuff in it. It was a while ago.

I have considered going with Better shocks ( Koni fsd) More agressive springs (tein) and camber plates. But that would be more exspensive then a set of coilovers and wouldnt have the same adjustability.

True, was just trying to help you save some cash. If you have about 50K on the MINI, you could do the TSW Springs and IE Plates now and drive the next 50K then upgrade to the FDS.

They would also have much less travel.

My gut instinct tells me that if the VMAXX's go low enough to be 'slammed' they'll also have the same bottoming-out issues that VW owners have with VMAXX coilovers.

I dont want "slammed". I just don't want any gap in the wheel wells. Would the 3.0 megans do that for me??
