Suspension R56 Konis on a Clubman S?
R56 Konis on a Clubman S?
Has anyone installed the new R56-specific Koni Sport dampers on a Clubman S?
These are the ones I'm referring to specifically:
Koni's application catalog indicates that these are externally adjustable in the rear, which is a nice change from the R53 style. Does anyone know if this is truly possible on the car, especially on a Clubman? And are the Koni spring perch issues fixed?
Thanks in advance,
Porter

Fugitive,
They are listed in the new PDF application catalog, downloadable from www.koni-na.com. The "web" catalog has not yet been updated.
The notes indicate that these are externally adjustable, and have separate part numbers for the right and left rear dampers, which is a change from the R53 as well.
The FSD units are marked "TBA" for the R56. The 28 series motorsport shocks are showing the same part numbers as previously on the R53, which makes sense since most of those applications will be built with a custom housing.

They have two sections, one for "Cooper, Cooper S, incl Convertible Years 02-06" which is the R53 cars.
The second section is "Cooper, Cooper S, incl Convertible Years 07-08" which would be the R56. This is the new section, and the part numbers I posted are new.
Here's a chart:

I've seen that ad too. The company I work for has a close relationship with Tire Rack. I called one of the Tire Rack reps with those part numbers and he said he hadn't heard anything about those. This was about a month ago, so I don't know what's happened since then.
I think it may be somewhat of a type-o. What makes me weary is the representation that the same part numbers work on the hardtop and convertible 07-08 models. I don't think they will be the same until the 09 convertible comes out.
The email response I got from Koni May 13 stated they would have R56 sport dampers by the end of the year. Not to say he is right and you are not so definitely post here if you are able to get them or get confirmation they are indeed available to ship now... I've been waiting for these too

I think they made up the part numbers in anticipation of having these shocks available by the end of the year so they wouldn't have to reprint the catalog when they came out. They are most likely not in stock.
I just spoke to my contact at Koni. These are in the process of going to production right now.
The jury is out at the moment whether the first production run will be finished prior to the Koni (Europe) holiday starting in mid-July, or whether the first units will ship after the holiday, for US arrival in August or so.
My gut instinct tells me it will probably be the August timeframe on these.

I've been waiting for these as well, hopefully sooner then August, I could really use some new shocks. I'm running the Eibach springs and I think my stock non sport shocks cant handle them, the car has become more bouncy over time
rebound damping would be a great thing. If anyone gets any new info, please post it. Thank!!!

Latest I heard today is they are still in development and expect to release them this fall. I might end up with coilovers before the Koni's are even an option!
