I need help with tire sizes!!!

Can a 225/50/16 fit on our car without rubbing? I have a 205/50/16 on right now and i was wondering if anyone has this setup.

the car is lowered on tein springs with, i believe, 1.5 all the way around. It's a 16 inch sport max wheel and i'm not sure of the offset. I think i need to do more research. Redskunk if you see this can you please chim in

They're on my car...

JCW suspension with modified rear spring perches for an additional .75" loweing & 16x7 with 42mm offset.

No rubbing on front.
Removed a little material on the rear bumber at the wheel well to stop rubbing at full compression.

Lots of traction!!!

16x7 with a +38 offset I believe (But check that, it'll say on the inside somewhere).

225/50 would be tall. I had a noise in the rear when the 205/50s were new, that I think were the tires rubbing on the outer plastic arch. The noise disappeared within a few hundred miles.

215/45 would probably fit, might rub same place in the rear. Tire would probably wear out their happy place on the arch lip. I think the big prob would be the arches, since the offset is wide.

you should be ok if the specs are as bahawtons
i personally run a lower sidewall... 225/40/16 on bilstein coilovers all the way down. no rubbing even at the autox. but like i said, my sidewall is 12.5mm shorter than what you plan to run so my account is different

and keep in mind that 225/50/16 is going to be 2.5% slower on the speedomoter. your circumference is going to 1.9" larger than the stock 205/45/17 MINI tire

My tires aren't 1.9" taller than stock- They're only 0.4" taller & that's only a 0.2" radius increase. The minimal diameter increase doesn't seem to slow me down because the new tire & wheel package is 60 lbs lighter that stock ; )

my bad, i meant circumference.
and you're actually .6" taller than the stock wheel/tire combo that i received on my vehicle. i understand it's different from the 16" combo but i opted for the 17"s
but you're right it's only .2"

I keep trying to cut & paste the spec boxes from Tire Rack for my tires & the OE Goodyears but all it does it post @!$%%$% hypertext!?!

Long story short is this...

Section Width: 8.1" stock & 9.1" with my tires.
Overal Diameter: 24.3" stock & 24.7" with my tires.
Revs Per Mile: 858 stock & 827 with my tires.

Tire size calculators are only good for approximations since evey brand tire varies in size. I chose the Conti's for a number of reasons, but one of the main reasons is they're shorter than most other 225s.

My opinion

205/45/16
215/45/16
225/40/16 <-might rub a little. Depends on ride height and camber.

If you wanna run 225's but are worried about rubbing...just lower the aspect ration a little bit.

I corrected the hypertext problem a couple posts ago- Maybe you need to hit the refresh button your browser?
