Suspension JIC/Cross Coilovers installed!
JIC/Cross Coilovers installed!
I just had my new jic coilovers installed this weekend thanks to Jan at RMW and Danny from Minicorsa this weekend and WOW! What a phenomenal difference in handling! What used to feel like spirited driving now feels nowhere near the new limits of my car.
I dialed up the ride height quite a bit from the initial installed height before I got it aligned for a slightly more conservative look (and from fear of the massive speedbumps where I work!) and it settled down perfectly!
The ride is great, a bit stiffer than stock but not harsh, and when I took my track wheels and tires for a little heat cycling spin the ride was better than stock suspension with runflats! I might need to change out my daily tires now that I felt the difference!
The only minor hiccup was that the lower spring perches on he front worked their way a bit loose and stared to rattle, but that was a quick fix and has been holding up great since! Thanks again to Jan and Danny, especially Jan for all his help and fielding my endless questions promptly and enthusiastically. Now I can't wait to make it out to the track and see if I can finally beat my friend in his Evo!

I wish I could run with you guys again on the 18th, but I'm actually going to Buttonwillow the week before and it'll be pretty hard for me to get the 18th off work. But hopefully I can catch you guys at the next one!
Pics will hopefully be posted tonight, I'm doing all my posing during the day from my phone.

If you're just looking for pictures of cars lowered on JIC/Cross they'll all look different, they're fully adjustable for height and dampening.
Here's some pictures of my car set up for the street
.

On the track it'll get slammed!

Nick's right about the adjustability, there's a TON of room for adjustment from what I saw, you could really set them at any height you want. My setup is probably a hair higher than Nick's for the street, and I'll probably leave it that way for the track for fear of messing up my alignment settings.

I also had my Cross coilovers put on by Danny this weekend. Danny was wonderful to work with, efficient, very straightforward and went above and beyond to ensure that I was happy. I recommend him to anyone.
The coilovers are exceptional. The ride is more comfortable than it was with the stock MCS suspension. Bumps are possibly heard a little more but the car's balance is not upset by these bumps like before. There's no jostling inside the cockpit--you hear the bump and expect reverberation and movement but the car stays serene. The car feels more planted, less twitchy and nervous. At freeway speeds, the car is much more stable following quick steering inputs.
I didn't want to spend this much to lower the car but now I think it's worth the expense. I didn't want to put up with the ride that resulted from lowering the car with a cheaper coilover. This is my daily driver and I didn't want to be bouncing up and down and rattling every screw loose. I didn't expect the ride to be this good--I was thinking good for coilovers--but the ride is truly wonderful. There's really no compromisng necessary with the Cross coilovers.
I'm still running the stock S winders and runflats. I'll have pictures in a week or two once my wheels go on and I make it back out to Danny for final height and camber adjustments.
Thanks also to Jan at RMW for answering all of my questions and selling me a great, no excuses product.

Very nice setup guys. Let us know your settings that you have now and what works best at the track. Mine are still in the box waiting to get the car out of winter storage. I'm sick of the snow here in Buffalo.
Better than flooding and tornado's everywhere else in the US though.

I run 7/15 front and 8/15 rear for damper settings. It's a tad extreme for the street, so I'm going to experiment with dropping down to 3/15 and 4/15 for the street and raising it up to 9/15 and 10/15 for the track. It's easy as pie to adjust the front. The rears are more complicated cause you have to pull the shock body off, but with the adjuster wires you can drill some holes and adjust them from the trunk
.
Jan, I'd also love to hear what you're running for the track. Granted, we have different cars but the more data I have the better guess I can start with! Right now I'm at 3/15 front and 6/15 rear, and feel like I could go stiffer for the track. Jon K from JIC said the best settings for him were 7/15 front and 1/15 rear!

Rear? You mean front... he has a rear sway bar (Unless this is something recent... haha)
I must have misunderstood, but I thought he said he ran full stiff in the rear "because he doesn't run a sway bar." It seems like if he didnt run a front bar and had the rear at full stiff then his back end would be ALL over the place!
. Ask him to e-mail you a few photos of him at the track, half of them are him sideways, haha.
Oh, I have! I was with you guys at SOW last november when we went to the Mexican place afterwards, but still! Thats a lot of rear stiffness!
PS: SOW is better than Buttonwillow

Here is my setup. Danny likes the front way low and I had him bump it up about 3/4 inch. Still drags the plastic just a little here and there.
I would post the picture here but I do not know how to do it.
