R53 question reguarding brake upgrade

hey guys, i have an R53 and run the 16" x-lite cross spoke ( factory ) rims. i like them alot and wish to keep them due to weight over the 17s or 18s. i do like the R90 cross spoke but too heavy. anyways i have been looking at brake kit upgrades and have noticed that they will only work with this rim or that rim. obviously clearance issues. is there a brake kit out there ( doesnt have to be a "big" brake kit ) that will give me better performance and more "bling" without sacrificing my 16s?
If i have to i guess i can paint my factory calipers but thats kinda weak ( to me ) any suggestions? any input? thanks guys and gals

Some of the BBKs specifically will work with the 16s as a number of track guys actually like the super light 15s.
- Such as these TSW brakes: http://www.txwerks.com/servlet/Detail?no=132
- Or these from Detroit Tuned http://www.detroittuned.com/products...20050219180642

Also, some have reported that the JCW brakes are a really close fit with the X-lites to the point of watching where the wheel weights are placed. I will know this soon as I have a set waiting in the basement for warmer weather.

if your going for a brake uprade go all the way i have stoptech with bbs 17"rims rims only weight 18# each this is very light for a rim. BUT there are like you said only a select set of rims you can use. the stopping power of these brakes is incredible. you wont be disappointed

Big brakes are nothing without the right tires.

The wilwood 11.75 works without spacers. I use them anyway. I like the x-lites, too!

It's not soo much the diameter of the rim, ie 16", 17", it's the offset. You could easily find many BBKs that will fit your 16s, but you may require some spacers. 5mm spacers should accomodate almost all of the BBKs out there.

Along the same lines, I'm considering the Wilwood BBK, but it appears I will need a spacer with my stock 17" s-lites. Will be going with a better wheel eventually but am already over a grand with the brakes, spacers and lines. Anyway, does anyone have a link for a vendor with the 5mm spacers referenced above? TIA
