R56 Lowering Questions

On the Outmotoring Site, they state that you will have to purchase a lower shock bushing kit in addition to the coilovers. Also, they say that you may have to replace the front swaybar end links because lowering will cause the some rubbing under maximum compression.

To those that have purchased coilovers, have you needed to purchase any additional parts so that these will fit and work properly?

I'm leaning toward the Cross coilovers with the thought of doing it right the first time and I am wondering if I need to bring anything in addition to the coilover package to my suspension shop.

As a side note, I ordered my MINI S yesterday with an expected arrival in March.

I can't help you with your question, but I can commend you for doing your homework before taking delievery. I bought the Mach V springs and non-run flat tires before I took delievery of the Mini.

Give Jan at RMW a call, as he's the preferred seller of Cross coilovers for MINIs. On the R53, they include front drop-links and camber plates; that may also be the case for the R56. The Cross coilovers are EXCELLENT; and I commend your decision to "do it right the 1st time"!

Congrats on your R56 order!

Cheers,
Ryan

Side note: If the coilovers are the correct ones for the R56 then you need not worry about those bushings. However, some mfr.s don't make an R56 specific kit and such require other items to make R53 ones work. I can say that the H&R coilovers that OutMotoring carries as well as ALTA (and others) for the R56 include everything you need to mount and use them properly.

I have used them on our shop cars and others with great success. Let me know if I can help in anyway with other concerns. Good luck with the purchase! You should be happy with any choice you make!
