I am currently having my 3rd transmission this year installed.

I am on my 19th axle.

EDIT:

Before everyone comes up with their idea of what is wrong. Dont as I have already figured it out.

Its called too low for an R56 to go on 17s.

In no way do I mean this as disrespectful but what is the point?

haha really? Why would you keep doing the same thing over and over with the same outcome? 19th axel? Come on! I am annoyed just hearing about that!

I am with you on this one. Forrest Gump once said, " stupid is as stupid does". 19 axles and 3 transmissions in one year certainly fits.

Cause all i have done is throw axles at the problem.. lets be smart.

This year I have gone through, a frame alignment, new wheel/bearings, new ball joints, new control arms, new end links, new sway bars, etc. Hell Ive gone through 1 insurance claim, 2 MINI dealers, 4 shops and until recently still had the problem, which is now most likely resolved.

Its not like i have just thrown axles at the same problem. Granted some of the axles were warrantied. Plus I have gotten both my trans for extremely cheap from some people who know people hahaha.

I am saying that MINIs cant be lowered to a certain point, **** some axles last 10 ft, not much planning one can do there. Some even happened when I had my KWs at their highest setting.

take your stupid is as stupid does and shove it gladly where the sun doesnt shine.

thanks.

****, now I am scared to put ST coils on mine. I had H&R coils for a few days and they made the vibration when lowered... I guess it will have be a subtle drop.

Don't be scared to slam it... I'm as low (maybe 1/4" higher at most) as Jaremy and haven't had a single problem except a snapped endlinks and two failed shocks. This only happened because I didn't know to use the proper endlinks for lowered cars. Don't let this scare you.... I've been driving for 6,000+ miles and haven't had one issue slammed... Even when I was about 2" lower than Jaremy when I had my 16"s on.

Just to be clear it doesn't matter if you run 16s or 17s. That won't have any effect on axles as far as lowering is concerned.

Its all about the position of the hub in relationship to the transmission. The only thing that controls that in this situation is what you have your coilovers set to. What were your V1s set at in the front when you blew all these axles?

Well. All my previous cars were slammed. Never had problems. But the mini vibration/shudder just gives me creeps.

This with me as well. I'm on 17s on my R53. I raised my ride height (although necessary to clear the speed bumps I need to make it over) almost an inch due to this fact. I would love to have my MINI riding on the ground...but I'm afraid it may not be possible.

I have ridden my mini at all sorts of heights.

I get the idea thats its hub relation, but I am saying is I was running my coilovers extremely low to look as low as cars on 16s when on 17s if that makes sense haha.

I think part of my recent issues spur from the KW V1s softness and height as well as TQ.

But when my car comes back on monday with the new os giken lsd and jcw trans paired with the new coilovers that are on it we shall see if the problem is fixed or not.

I dont think I have ever had shuddering, I have had popping and metallic noises in the cvs before thats about it.

Well. When i bought my PW MCS. I bought H&R Coilovers the first week. They were used for about 8 months on another Mini. He had no issues. I even drove with his car when he had them on. He sold them to me when his lease was over. I put them on my car and I had vibration under acceleration in pretty much all the gears. The highest setting was still a 2.2" drop roughly and it was still there but not as strong on a 3" drop roughly. I am going to get a set of ST Coils since they dont go as low.

It is possible. There are plenty of us that have gone low with little to no problems at all.

Have Eibach Pro 1's on my 2009 JCW. Have had height issues and ride issues as well. The fronts were adjusted as high as possible and the backs about 1/2" from bottom. Fronts still very low. Eibach sent new springs, on the house, for the front. Helped. The back is as low as possible and still not low enough. The ride is stiff. I don't mind but it makes my wife a little nauseous. They are very nice on the track though. So it's give and take. Anyone else have Eibachs'?

Has anyone seen Dayton's on a Mini? While I don't plan on doing too much modifications right now, I would like to lower and get some Dayton (or similar wire wheels) once I get out of school and don't have to worry about spending so much money there, lol. As it is though, if I'm going to lower anything I'd be lowering my seat another inch lol, but I guess it's more important to look good than be comfortable.

I would get the smallest widest with the biggest spinners possible Daytons and slap them babies on. I would't lower it, I would install some hydraulics. Call up Lowrider mag and maybe they will feature you.
