SuspensionSprings, struts, coilovers, sway-bars, camber plates, and all other modifications to suspension components for Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs.
Sway bar reduces body roll by tying the front suspension(on the struts) together...a strut brace increases the chassis' torsional rigidity(less flexing). You'll notice a much bigger handling difference by getting a sway bar. So get sway bar then strut brace.
I'd go with the sway bar first as well. In particular, you'll probably get more-noticeable results by swapping out the rear sway bar. Most people just leave the front bar stock.
Going for a heavier rear sway bar will help cure understeer. Dont bother changing the front one.
The strut brace doesn't do a lot, but certainly wouldn't hurt.
