Struts? Shocks? Where?

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it odd that there don't seem to be any sport struts available for the R56? I know there's been a run on the springs, seemingly made by just -one- aftermarket producer, so why are suspension set ups for the R56, seemingly, soooo so rare?

Was there a similar vacuum when the R53 was in its first year?

I ask because I went a route a lot of people probably did: I didn't opt for the factory sports suspension set up thinking that aftermarket would be cheaper and better. I figured I'd get some Blistien or Koni struts, some Eibach or similar springs, and be on my way (admittedly, I didn't research much at all for aftermarket set ups before purchasing my R56) just weeks after taking delivery of the car.

So I'm ready to drink the water, but the river is.. pretty dry right now.

I can't think it will be that long, but it could. DEpends on the wants and needs of clients. Koni, Tokico etc. must be working on something!

Good luck on the hunt and if you do find something let us all know!

Koni has a new set coming for the R56. Mach V has their own Technic springs for the R56 and you can use many R53 designed struts on the R56 if you get some $40 bushing for the rear.

Ah, ok! Very cool. Do you happen to know which (links? ) and where to pick up the bushing kits? I'm more interested in replacing the struts and suspension bars than the springs (as I've read that's much more effective on a MINI anyway).

After some digging:

looks like there's a bushing kit available here:

http://www.helix13.com/mini/products/suspension-chasis

just like you said; $40. Nice!

Now to find a set of Konis or similar from the R53 that will work in the R56 and I think I'm set.

Okay, so rears are set to go with the bushings...

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand the R53 Koni fronts will fit by taking off the spring perch included and replacing it with the spring perch from the stock strut? Is this just a simple rubber mallet job? Thanks for the info.

Good luck halibut.

Be sure to post before and after graphs!

If you don't then people will question the validity of the test!

It is the Internet, after all.
