Which Springs?

So I just picked up my new MCS 07 with 18's and I'd like to drop it. So my question is which springs should I use and which will give me the safest drop?

I used the H&Rs with my aftermarket 18s with 215/35/18s and have no clearence issues. Problem is: no H&Rs in stock in the country last I heard.

Cool...one last question has Mini had any warranty problems with people doing the spring or coilover swaps?

Pretty sure the warranty issue is up to the dealer to decide. If they claim they are not gonna fix something because you lowered your car, you can appeal to MINI, but I don't know how much good it would do.

My MA advised I not mod my MINI with any aftermarket, non-MINI parts to avoid potential warranty issues.

FWIW, no one has ever given me a hard time about modding my cars. Suspension isn't a problem. However, I don't fuss with the motor or tranny internals/chips/or turbos on cars with warranties

So did he point you to the MINI part that would make the car look like less like a 4x4?

I think if it was a matter of voiding the warranty for my shocks/struts... or driving around a high-riding R56... I'd wave bye-bye to that small portion of the warranty, since A) It's not like they will refuse to fix your engine or tranny 'cause you swapped SPRINGS, and B) Who's ever hear of replacing shocks and struts under warranty, anyway? Nobody? Me either.

Worst case your risking strut tower mushrooming over time. MINI's warranty didn't do crap for the 1st gen dealers who experienced mushrooming, anyway. Buy some M7 strut tower reinforcement plates (once there out) if you want some peace of mind & a little extra insurance. Otherwise drop that thing ASAP!

Forgot to mention that if you kill a shock by bottoming out, they won't replace it. Then again, I wouldn't pay dealer prices for a less than ideal shock. That's just me.

You can put aftermarket springs on the R56 JCW shocks right?

I aways love H&R Sport springs. I had that on my Focus, and loved it. Does anyone have the Sports springs on their Mini?

I have had great luck with H&R in the past. I currently have a set myself but have yet get them installed on my R56. I'm sorta worried about bottoming out even though I'm on 17s as opposed to 18s. I have the Sport Suspension on my car currently the ride is resonable...with the H&R I'm also worried about possibly making that nice ride get rougher. Ugh...

Anyone know a spot in Portland, OR or even here in Eugene, OR to get my springs installed and wheel alignment done?
I tried Les Schwab here in town but they won't do install work for suspensions bought outside of their realm. Basically it was a "liability" for them to perform the install with equipment purchased outside of their control.

Nice ride. Did you change the shocks out too? How's the ride?
Also, where did you get the black mirrors?

THANKS!

I like the ride very much. I did not replace the shocks yet as there are not any available yet that I know of. I did replace the stock sway bar with ALTA's 19mm on the tightest setting. The ride is very balanced!

familiarstranger is correct, they are JCW carbon fiber mirror caps. They are available from a few vendors here. I got mine from
MORRISTOWN MINI.
