Car nearly flipping out
Car nearly flipping out
I posted this in another thread but realised it probably should have been put here so sorry for the duplication!
Earlier today I went for a spin in my 2007 MCS. Wasn't going mad in it (still running it in at 600 miles), was doing about 60mph on a straight when I hit a slight bump in the road - the car nearly flipped out. The wheel flew out of my hands and the car went heading towards the other side of the road. Major freaked me out.
I have noticed that the car is very 'twitchy' at higher speeds and the steering/handling seems extremely sensetive. Not what I expected and I'm now nervous about taking a corner at anything more than 20mph!
Any ideas?

Hmmm maybe alignment isn't settled in or the tire still haven't worn off that fresh tire "slick" layer? Just ideas.
I find this comment quite interesting through as the 56's huge + was supposed to be "less twitchy" handling characteristics.

I don't have LSD, I'm beginning to think I made some bad choices when choosing the spec of my car. Damn it. My 2003 Cooper didn't have any upgrades of any sort and it handled really well so I didn't think I needed to add much to the R56. Seems is was grossly mistaken!

+1 for the alignment. That would be the main reason for the twitchiness. The suspension upgrades would have some effect on understeer, but not on steering response. The rear alignment could cause the car to jump into a turn a lot quicker.
