Good independent auto shops in NJ?

Hey everyone, I recently found out that I need to have my clutch replaced. The dealer wants $1175 to do it, which I've heard is pretty cheap for the dealer, but I still don't want to pay that much. I want to take it to a reliable independent auto repair that has worked on MINIs before. Anybody know of a reliable place in NJ, around Bergen county or northern NJ?

If the price they quoted you is for parts and labor,

I would go back before they change their mind.

It sucks that you need a new clutch, but they gave you a really good deal.

Doing a clutch on a mini is not a small job.

good luck

You can check out Don: http://www.dmhmotorsports.net/default.asp or PM him "DMH"

I was VERY impressed with the service here (in wycoff): http://www.motorworkswest.com/about.html

They are expensive, but they are also the most impressive ind. shop I've ever seen - they're like a BMW dealership except not (although they charge similar prices). Granted, I've never been to precision (dmh) or helix (philly).

Good luck!

Just gave the technician at Prestige Mini the okay to replace the clutch. Hopefully all turns out well...next step is selling it. It will be painful, I'm hurting already but maybe an '07 MCS will be my next car??
