no more cold start stumble. Been running Shell V-power for a while and each morning my 03 MC would stumble a bit a few seconds after starting, as I exited my driveway. One tank of Phillips premium and the stumble is gone.

If you have this problem and are using Shell there is a good chance the fix is to change brands.

this is probably in the wrong forum, but. . .

My wife's MCS JCW had a cold start stumble issue, took it to the dealer and they reflashed the ECU and we haven't had it happen since. We always fill it up at the BP down the street from us.

I was using Shell and had a hard start problem when cold. I switched to Mobil, and haven't had it at all.
There's something in the Shell gas my MINI doesn't like.

Strange but in my car Shell gas seems to make it purr the best. The top Tier high additive gas seems to work well in my car.

I was using Shell, but I think the station is a bit shady so I stopped. I seem to have had the best luck with Sunoco or Exxon.

my car runs primarily on V-Power no issues. i use to use Mobil and it was fine.
only reason is that the station has a dripping roof and i dont want
my MCS getting wet.

I absolutely agree. I get 'cold-start' in the hot summer mornings, but never in the winter?!?!? Could also be summer gas formula issues with the temperature.

Otherwise, gas is gas, just how much 'detergent additives' are added above the federal minimum requirements in each tank truck from the refinery or depot. Gas is fungiable, and most refineries are not owned by stations/or majors.

NIXXON

Sorry, still a little sensitive to a political situation and a small SE Asian nation...

COSTCO for me... MINI love it and so does bank account...

I motor with Chevron, she seems to run perfectly with it. It's all I've ever used in any of my cars since I've been old enough to drive.

i think in the summer months especially on a wet/humid day there's
not enough oxygen and just floods it.

I tend to alternate between Chevron and Vallero. I did get a bit of bad Chevron gas not long ago, causing no damage. Gromit runs fine on Vallero.

Primarily BP Ultimate. Shell V-Power, Mobil as alternatives, all seem to work well.

I too have some issues with Shell, so I started using Sunoco, it's beautiful stuff. I usually stick with there prem which in Indy is 93, but every so often I will put the 94 in. I don't notice a differance, but boy the exhaust sure does smell good.

I had some "issues" the first few tanks that I downgraded to the 93 octane stuff (Exxon cause it was closest) but now I alternate between Sam's Club and the same Exxon without any problems

Shell

I've been told by a very intelligent MA that Shell has a good bit of sulfur in their petrol which can cause problems for the MINI further down the road. He could be full of hot air but I have been very loyal to coporately owned Chevron stations and they've be good to me.

I was told the same about Sunoco - high sulfur content. All I know is my gas gauge never reads all the way to full when I use Sunoco gas.... go figure. Different pumps, different stations, same result. Any other brand and the sending unit is happy. No difference in performance.
