oil canister flat spot
oil canister flat spot
Hi guys:
I have searched and seen the oil change how to thread. However, I can't find a post where someone mentioned there's a flat spot around the rim of the canister. If that faces up during reinstall, it will go on much eaiser. Could someone please help me locate that post? Thanks

Actually there are two flat spots 180 degrees from each other. Starting the canister back on with a flat spot to the top does seem to help it go on a bit easier. As kenchan said the flats are on the ring with the threads.
the flat spots are on the threads as it was said, just make sure you coat the seal with oil or silicone lube so that way it slides better and doesn't get pinched.
after you do that reach with a towel and clean the housing, pour the 5qts of oil and run the engine and stick your hand back there and feel for any oil leaking from the housing.
have fun!
