So since the notice didn't mention cars made before Dec of '03, does that mean those cars DON'T have oil/hydralic mounts, or that they just aren't prone to busting?

on the earlier cars. I don't know if the mount is oil filled or not. But it's not as problematic.
Before Dec. 03, The bushings are complete rubber, with a completely different mounting bracket from the side of the block. These never seem to leak, so I found one in the junkyard and swapped it all on to my 06.
Huh! Well I'll b then. I looked at mine, and they looked nothing like the picture, and no crud. With over 150k miles on them, I would have expected a leak if they were. Cool, then.
Now it all makes sense. My gf's dad noticed 2 discreet oil spots on the driveway but I'm not leaking oil. I did however idle Lorelai in the driveway to warm her insides before we took off over the weekend (something I hardly ever do) so maybe the mystery oil is from a bad motor mount. I seem to have the same crud that the pictures show as well so it's all adding up.
I believe you Eric. It makes sense that riding happy cows instead of MINI's would be easier on the MINI mechanicals. How many miles you got on Bessie now?
Unfortunately, next scheduled service is 15000 away and if the oil eats my paint I'll really be pissed. The good thing is, there's a Northern Hydraulics retail outlet close to my dealer - I'd like one of everything they have in that store.
Nope, Calif. too - my '06 Mini's motor mount failed with 18K mi.- Scott at Central Coast Coopers pointed it out to me while he was putting on Koni FSDs last weekend.
