Factory Reset Tool

MIB is racking on the miles quite quickly. Most likely 25K before it is a year old. Even with the extended warenty... It is gonna get costly quick!

Is there a place that sells the factory reset tools. They will re-set the change oil and factory service lamps. I have seen them in AutoWeek for BMW but never for MINI's... That is untill MIB had its oil changed at Bill Jacobs MINI. There was an add in Roundel (BMW magazine sp?) but I have never seen the NAM vendors have them.

Anyone have a lead?

You do not need a tool!

This is from an 03 procedure...probably the same for almost all!

Maintenance Required Lamp/Indicator: Service and Repair

RESETTING the Service Interval Indicator

The II can be reset using the trip odometer reset button in the instrument cluster:

The ignition key must be in the “0” (off) position.
Press and hold the trip odometer reset button in the instrument cluster, and turn the ignition key to the “I’ (accessory) position.
Keep the button pressed for approx. 5 more seconds until the current SIl status appears in the display: “Oil Service” or “Inspection” Release the button.
Press the button again and hold for approximately 5 seconds to change to the reset mode. The letters “RST” appear. While the display is flashing press the button briefly to reset the Service Interval. The new intervall will be displayed for 5 seconds.
Release the button and turn ignition off.

I bought mine from.......
www.bimmerworld.com

It's a Peake product as someone mentioned above, but the cost is a little cheaper.
