what does the P0030 P-CODE DO?
what does the P0030 P-CODE DO?
I have pulled this code recently, and I have tried to find the solution. On my code reader it said P0030 HO2S heater control circuit ( bank 1 sensor 1). I had some exhaust problems due to a trashed flex joint on my header, but it has been fixed since then. I erased the codes, but after I drive the car, and then restart it the engine light comes back on. Could the first O2 sensor be faulty? If someone could help me I would appreciate it.

HO2S Heater control Circuit open.
The Heated Oxygen Sensor is not heating. S may mean the Secondary sensor which is after the cat. If you had exhaust problems, you may have a damaged wiring harness leading to the O2 sensor.

I think sensor 1 is the upstream one. Check to make sure the sensor & wires are not squished up against the heat shield. This happened to me with the OBX header, and the O2 sensor thinks it can't heat up. Bending the heat shield fixed the prob. At least some aftermarket headers put the O2 sensor in a slightly different location than stock.

Started with 3 codes. One for evap purge valve. Replaced that. Then got one for bank 1 o2 sensor. Replaced that with the proper NTK factory sensor. Made sure all wires are in safe spots. Now getting p0030. Not sure why if the sensor and wiring is all brand new. Is this normal? Is there some sort of break in period on a new o2 sensor?

so after some testing, i am still looking for some assistance/amswers, but have found the following:
- it doesnt matter if the engine is hot or cold. the light and p0030 code come on immdiately every time i start the car, unless the code is clearly just before starting. for instance, if i clear the code, start the car, the light remains off. as soon as the car is turned off, the next time it is started, the code and light are back upon starting.
- ive ruled out a faulty sensor since no other codes are being displayed and the car is running smoother than ever.
- could it possibly be the extension wire i am using? my tuner supplied me with an extension wire which is professionally made and heat wrapped and terminated properly into factory male/female plugs. this extension wire is also brand new. ive triple checked the wire routing and it is safe.
anybody got any ideas?
