Help diagnosing the noise.
Here is the situation. I have a 2005 MCc riding on H-Sport springs with 25 mm sway bar and an M7 USS. All parts were installed by Steve's Auto Clinic. I have a squeaking/groaning noise coming from the rear mostly going over bumps and dips. At first I thought it might be the sway bar, so I had it lubed up through the grease fittings, but the noise is still there. Than I thought it might be the top (since it was replaced by the dealer), but the noise is there whether the top is up, or down.
So my question is this. Could it be the weak OEM MCc shocks making the noise? Or could it be the springs since the shocks are shot and the springs are doing all the work now?
All opinions are welcome as this noise is getting annoying.
Thanks.

Something that's worked for me well in the past is to have someone else drive your MINI. Walk alongside as the driver takes your MCc slowly over some bumps and dips, and try to make any observations about what you see and hear and exactly when the squeaking/groaning occurs (i.e., whether it's occurring as the back is rising or falling). You can also use this method to eliminate some potential causes, such as tire rubbing or spring bottoming out. The process only takes a few minutes, and it could save a lot of trouble down the road.
Best of luck, and keep us posted!

I had a groaning/creaking noise in my '05 MCSc coming from what I thought was the rear window mechanisms. Read a post somewhere stating that it could be the door latches and to try lubing them with white lithium grease spray. It solved my problem.

Just an update. The prize goes to Steve, aka SRTech. I had the bushings removed and re-greased and all is quiet once again.
