I have gotton two quotes for a 15% pulley for my 03 MCS. $375 (Alta) and $450 (Webb Motorsports). Are these reasonable prices?
Thanks in advance!

Find out if the price includes a new belt. many people also change their spark plugs at the same time too.

At a Webb Motorsports Pulley Party (which by now are pretty much extinct), Randy charged me a flat $400 for the pulley and installation.

After driving the car with the new pulley, I thought I ripped HIM off!

Yup...

In your area, Steve's Auto Clinic in North Hills ( www.stevesautoclinic.com ) is the best for reputation for quality and for price.

I got from his shop an Alta CAI, an Alta 15% Reduction Pulley, cold plugs and a very customized 1-ball for $865, installed, in 4 hours while I waited. Great work, great results. I'd go back without hesitation.

Call them, talk to Steve about how you drive the car and what you want to get out of this, he will give you a free, professional recommendation for how to achieve your goal. Ask for a quote and if you like the quote, schedule an appointment.

Best of luck!

Randy is the man when it comes to installing pulleys... But since he as done so many, at 250$ for rhe install, he probably was the one thinking he ripped you off (joke!)

It is a little surprising that the installation price has not gone down over the years considering that the actual labor time is only about an hour. In the beginning, when it took a few hours to do a pulley, $250 for the job was about right.

My independent mechanic charges the same hourly rate regardless of what he is doing to my car.

However, the bang for the buck is still excellent, and I'd rather have an experienced person do the job right considering how fast the supercharger spins and how bad it could be if it were not done pefectly.

im not sure if this is a concern of yours buuuuut...
if something were to happen (god forbid...) and you had a problem w/ the pulley who would honor the WMS pulley warranty?

im running the alta, had it installed at steve's auto clinic. just fyi, he's great to deal with. plus, alta's been in business, is in business, and will be for a while. just my .02

in anycase, whatever brand you get for whatever price installed, you will DEFINITELY notice a difference and will LOOOOVE your car even more than you do now. i hope you have a radar detector...

Thanks for the reply. I sure hope that nothing goes wrong with the installation....

The shop that I am planning to take the car is only 3 miles from where I live (at the moment) and is also listed under "Dealer/Warranty Support Network" by Webb Motorsports. I inquired about the warranty when I asked for the price: they will cover it for full 2 years. Although I wanted to get it installed by Steve, it is just too far from where I live and it is not practical if something goes wrong...

Eventhough I decided 99% that I am going to get it, I am a bit worried about how this would effect the situation if I wanted to sell the car in the future. I know there will be some poeple who would appreciate the extra power of 15% reduction pulley, but I am sure they will be in minority. I have seen great cars not getting their worth because they had aftermarket wheels. Some people are very reluctant to buying a car with anything customized - regardless if it looks good or works great. That's my only concern now...

Thanks for all the input.
