2006 MCS - Slight Hesitation at 3000 RPM
I've only got 650 miles on my 2006 MCS and love it but there is a noticeable hesitation in the acceleration in all gears right around 3000 RPMs (+/- 200). At first I thought it was just my granny driving being afraid to push the RPMs during the break-in period. But now I've noticed that I usually feel it only during moderately spirited driving. If I beat on it a bit, I don't notice it. If I really baby it, I don't notice it either.
My MCS is straight stock, no JCW, and I'm not running the AC.
I'm curious if this is normal or if there is something specific I should look for or should mention to my service department.
Thoughts?

Welcome to the world of the Mini ECU..
I"ve got it in version 39.somthing. But it didn't show up until I was pretty heavily modded. I think it's the ECU not doing a good job of dealing with light throttle. Whith the hesitation, the A/F ratios go up, as does the exhaust gas temps. And if you put your foot into it more, you get into the power programming, and you get enough gas again.

And you believed that
The DR. is right on this. Is the stupid mapping on the Mini, after installing Mth tuner file, flat spot gone. My car is a heavily mod Cosworth staged Mini.

The dealer is BSing you. He/she is probably referring to the operation of the bypass valve, because the SC works all the time to produce boost, at all rpm. Do a search on bypass valve ( a good thread is operation vacuum gain system - VGS) and learn more about how this sucker works in conjunction with the ECU mapping.
My .02 is that you have the need for the VGS, but read about and decide if you can live with the massive increase in IATs it supposedly produces.
cheers,

I had the same problem w/ my stock '05 MCS as well as the bogging at idle when the engine is first started. About a month ago I had the new MAP (released about 3 weeks prior) installed and it took care of both problems. The main issue the MAP was designed to address was the opening of the fuel tank purge valve at engine rpms below 1,000. That was causing the engine to run too rich until the valve closed. When running the A/C the engine rpms are above 1,000 and that's where the purge valve is supposed to open. This has been an issue for years and the new MAP promised for years. The MAP install was accomplished as a warranty issue as I had the stumble off idle as well as the loading up issue.
