make sure you have the sunroof open (if you have one) and don't be afraid to give it a little force, first times the hardest then after that its easy, just pull straight up, no hernia required.

BTW Welcome to NAM!

Just pull really hard, It helps if you wiggle it a little. In my expierence, it takes a few tries, but it DOES come off!

Good luck, and welcome to NAM!

Mine pulled straight up without any drama....although the words "keep head back out of the way" were sounding in my head as I prepared myself.

I just changed out the boot on my shifter and had to remove the ****. I was a little nervous about just yanking up but it did come off pretty easy. Just a few pulls and a slight wiggle.

Just keep your head out of the way or you may end up with a black eye.

After reading the stories here, I was prepared for the worst...

Opened the sunroof, and dropped a pillow between the **** and my body (with the hopes of cushioning the blow)...

However, it wasn't too difficult to remove at all... No **** through the sunroof or even in the chest...

I have an 05 and it was on there like a b*tch. I thought i was going to bend the shifter before that sucker would give . . . bonne chance.

I replaced my shifter boot with a leather one and the instructions indicated that removal of the **** would be easier if you put the car in 2nd gear to stop any play and just yank upwards. It worked like a charm for me, verrrry easy.
