Oil pressure after oil change

I know there are other threads regarding this, but I changed my oil yesterday and since have developed this issue.

At Idle: Oil pressure light stays on.
Light goes out when throttle pressed.

Also, seem to have developed an intermittent clicking/tapping sound on the timing chain side of the cylinder head.

Have used a Napa filter which fit withou issues except the spring in the canister is loose and not mounted inside the base of the canister. Is this an issue?

Help!

Have you checked for leaks (otherwise known as the filter housing not correctly re-mounted)? Did you replace the MINI filter + filter housing with a single filter canister? If so, the first thing I would do is go back to the MINI filter + filter housing. It would seem that there is a problem with the aftermarket filter canister.

The Oil pressure light will turn on if the black plastic tube on the inside of the oil filter cap is not in perfect position when reinstalled into the filter housing. Also if the NAPA filter is longer [or shorter] the light can come on due to the filter blocking the sensor's readings.

DO NOT RUN YOUR ENGINE!!! Until you fix this.

I think the NAPA filter is your problem. Your OEM filter had a plastic tube inside of it. Did you put the tube back in your NAPA filter?? If not that's probably your problem. What you are probably hearing is your timing chain tensioner starving for oil. Your bearings are also starving for oil. You just don't hear them yet. Better fix this ASAP.

Went back to the old Mini filter this morning, problem solved.

Annoying since I have used a Purolator filter in the past. This time, I tried again, but had these issues. The SA at my local Mini dealer said parts dept was open until 6pm last night. Off to buy an OEM filter, I get there at 4:15, and they are closed. Stopped at a NAPA store on the way back home (not in my Mini) and picked up a WIX 7303 filter. Better quality than the Purolator. Same issues.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Yes, the Napa/WIX filter is not correct. I went back to the old Mini filter (until I can get a new one). Anyway, there is no removable plastic tube with the Mini filter, but it has the plastic ribs inside. So does the Napa filter.

Thanks for your input.

I have a MCS & it doesn't have the plastic tube inside either. My information came from posts I've read here. My guess is that MINI changed the filter so the tube was integrated in it. There were many reports of oil change places tossing the tube with the filter instead of transferring it to the new one. I'm glad you solved your problem.

I've used the NAPA #7303 filter in my 04 MCS with no problems or issues at all.
