Removing I/C

How do you remove the I/C? I was just working on a swap, and I couldn't get the four bolts loose. Actually, I got one loose, but that was it. I was afraid I was going to break my hex wrench. On my MINI, it came right off. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

It should be an 8 to 16 bolt process, remove the 4 torx screws on the cover (#25 on -12/04 and #30 on 01/05-) then loosen the four 30 torx srews closest to the IC; at this point I can usually get it off. If you still have issues then proceede to loosen the the for outer IC boot screws and feel free to loosen/ remove the hex bolts holding brackets on the front end of the motor.

Thats the removal, Andy has photos and an explination in the VGS mod thread.

Hope this helps, getting on and off the boots is something of an art that gets easier over time.

Sure, the hard part is putting it back on; and the first time that just means an hour or so of different contortions until you find the art of slipping it in just roght and making sure everythign is tight.

And if you do it a few times......

you'll find that it takes more time to get the tools together than to do the work.

True I've been at that point for a few months now, but I remember how frustrating that first time was, so I wanted to give a little warning.
