Pulley Just Woke Car Up!

I had a 17 percent pulley, CAI, and rear sway bar put on my MCS and it now handles and has the speed and acceleration it should have all along. Helix is a great place. Check them out.

Dyno

I was too cheap to do a dyno, but you can feel the difference accelerating from a red light and it goes 0-60 much faster than before. (I left an Escalade with a bad attitude in the dust on the way home on I-95)

Some people have said that you couldn't see much difference with the JCW and the MCS, but I disagree. I had a bone stock MCS and now an MCS with pulley, CAI, and rear sway bar, and the difference is night and day, and even at low rpms. I also got a reflash with Version 58 and I think that helped too.

For $940, it was a great thing to do.

$940 for a sway bar, CAI, and Pully!? That seems like a lot to me....how much labor did you pay for? I've already done a HAI, and planning the others....but I have to pay off the car first. I am planning on saving the money (M7 exhaust looks tasty) and installing them myself.

Anyway, what brand of parts?

Cody, what do think the brake down would be? Not trying to be a wise a$$ just new to the Mini world and I want to make sure what I pay is fair.

Case in point...the dealer wanted to charge us $800 for the Sirius radio!!! When the car is ALREADY pre-wired!!! Doing it myself for around $300 that is with everything! I know that is still high for SAT radio...but we are keeping the OEM appearance. (sorry to get off topic. )

Depends what parts you bought...this would lead to the difference in costs.

Here is my set-up I want to do.

HAI (done) - $35, installed myself

M7 16% Pully - $130, and I would find someone to lend me a pully removal tool hopefully, if not I believe they run ~$70 for a generic one. And I would also do that install myself.

Rear Sway Bar - I'm not sure, as I've never looked at these, but I do want one. Unsure on cost, but I think the WMS is the most expensive, at like $500. And, I also would install that myself.

Max total without shipping:
$735 with the WMS bar which is expensive!

Basically, if you can get someone to loan you a pully removal tool, it should cost you $165 + shipping total, and then however much a sway bar is.

-Cody

Edit* The R-Speed rear sway bar is $200 + shipping from Detriot Tuned. So I would be looking at anywhere from $365-435 + shipping.

Cody, thanks for the reply and the prices. I am with you I have no problem working on my rides and in the long run you save lots of money on the labor.

The car's short wheelbase and stiff suspension already set the stage for
some really great handling.

What are the immediate benefits with the Rear sway bar?

Rear Sway Bar

back end is more responsive in turns, and more fun to toss around.

I have the same mods from Helix and agree that they turn a stock Mini into
a beast with a more aggressive nature. The car will do anything you want it to on the street. I also think it would be well worth considering a Helix short shifter, GIAC tuning and.....Eric does it all. Happy trails!
