I read on this forum that cars w/DSC can switch it off. Is this true with the ABS/ASC+T systems as well?

Looking to purchase a Cooper S and run track lapping days and autocross. Not fond of ABS in performance driving. Other cars I have driven w/ABS can switch it off. Just wondering if that is true with the MINI.null

Yes, there is a toggle switch to turn it off.

I believe the toggle is to swicth off the traction control only. I don't see a toggle to switch off ABS. My S does not have DSC.

I have seen the toggle switch for the DSC option. Is there a switch for the standard ABS/ASC+T?

No, there is only one toggle switch. You can't turn off the ABS.

You could probably disable it but no telling how tricky that is. I would not want to mess with it.

I took a look at the manual. I belive you can switch it off.

Page 17:

"The idicator lamp stays lit:
ASC+T/DSC switched off with button or defective."

Page 60:

"Switch off the ASC+T
Briefly press the switch.
The indicator lamp stays lit.
when driving with snow chains or to "rock
free" in snow, it can be helpful to switch off
the ACS+T for a brief period."

The same is true if you have DSC.

and it's just a tap to turn it back on again.

Hope this helps.

Pebble.

Oh, and it says DSC contains the functions: ABS, EBD and ASC+T.

Thanks for the clarification, I thought the ABS was separate from the other systems controlled by that switch.

Well it says ABS is part of DCS, howver I can't belive you cant turn it off if you just have the dsc+t switch and not the DCS. If that makes sense!

Bottom line, ask the dealer for sure.

i think you can turn it off if you like. why else would they put a switch there (DSC/ASC-T)? in terms of the ABS, i agree with pebble, check with the dealer.
