Help..please....Mini down wiring short...probably
Help..please....Mini down wiring short...probably
This is my 3rd post on this.... the: e brake, ABS, low tire, DSC lights are all on. the Speedo and the gas gauge are intermittent. I fixed it for a short time with the 10a ABS fuse...... the code is 1613 (ASC) and all is intermittent......there is a short somewhere..... The dealer can not get their equipment to talk to my car so they can not diagnose the problem...... recent mods are the DFIC and the understrut system...... the dealer can not get a read from the "E" bus..... we disconnected the U Chip.... I need some help here as this is a chase down problem..... I have had the steering angle sensor and the ABS sensors suggested....checked the ABS sensors and they seem fine. the car is running fine... the ABS does not work.....need anymore info.....you can call me at 404 277 7636 if you have anything

The steering angle sensor shouldn't affect the speedo and gas gauge.
Sounds like you have a chaffing problem or a bad ground somewhere. I don't have any wiring schematics to look through to help you out. Sorry. Good luck!:impatient

Your grounds and busses have multiple circuits connecting at various points...so a loose ground will affect all those tied in at that point. I would start by looking at all your grounds and make sure they are tight.

Unfortunately I don't have a Bentley's so I'm not of much help. I would recommend looking at the wiring diagrams and see if there is a ground that has all the malfunctioning systems on it. The four grounding points I'm most familiar with are the two under the door sills and the two at the back of the car. Getting at these four requires removal of a lot of the interior.

a while back just before a race weekend and the end of any warranty i had left...i got the DSC, ABS,Flat tire light. i would get it every now and then from day one. but maybe twice a year and only in the rain, so now i was getting it any time i got on the car (gave it some gas). as i would exit a corner and drift out under WOT, the lights would come on. any time i spun the tires it would also come on. i took it to the dealer and told them i thought i had a bad wheel speed sensor, they hooked up there fancy tools, and ended up replacing the whole ABS unit...850 bucks of a ABS Unit. Warranty!!!
so they tell me it's ready to go. i pick it up, warm it up. and leave like a bat out of hell, all the light came on again.....so i U turn and pull back in. come one guys,,,did you take it for a test drive? "let me tell you a few things, i happen to work on this car a lot and i really think it's a front wheel speed sensor." so they re-hook up there fancy tool and, oh it is a front wheel speed sensor.. they replace the 30 dollar part and i again leave in a spirited manor with no problems. to this day it is still working 10K later. i also had another car that the sensor got pulled on and it made a clicking noise from the ABS unit. this may be a good place to start. hope it helps.

The bad wheel speed sensor is a good one to add to the fault fix list, thanks Chad

SpiderX (Bob) has other issues also, a non-communicative OBD II port and intermittent dash gauge operation. Could you put your swami turban back on and give that a go?

I agree with k-huevo...if you only had the ABS, DSC and flat tire lights I would look at the wheel speed sensors first....but the other problems make me think looking for a loose ground would be the first thing to look for.
problem solved
after looking at countless connections and grounds the multipin to the ABS was cleaned again...... we are not sure why because it did not look at all dirty or contaminated but figure maybe some kind of reset occured ..... but the lights are out and the OBDII is talking again....thanks to all for suggestions
